Chris Gregg is a native of Nashville, TN, and has been around music all of his life. Singing in church choirs and playing violin and viola in orchestras, Chris has varied experiences in his musical background. After an intense involvement in his high school band, Chris decided to major in saxophone performance during his junior year at Belmont University. Under the tutelage of Dr. Jeff Kirk, he advanced to the position of lead alto sax in the University Jazz Ensemble and headlined showcases and recitals.
Even though Chris focused intensely on saxophone performance, his training at Belmont also included a degree in Music Education. After graduating in 2002 and gaining the new assistant band director position at University School of Nashville, Chris developed the heart of a teacher and led many young students to a deeper appreciation of music. He taught and challenged students from the 5th grade beginning band level to the high school jazz band level and still wants to further the awareness and impact of instrumental music in education.
Through concentrated training, diligent practice, and God's grace, Chris now pursues saxophone performance as his life's work and has the goal of one day earning a position on a college faculty as a saxophone professor. Although he has played with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, DMHO, Chester Thompson, Tommy Simms, and Lori Morgan, being a part of the education world gives Chris a chance to change the lives of young musicians... allowing him to encourage others in their musical walk and presenting him the opportunity to enjoy a career in music.
